The application has a map in each city that allows visualizing the proposed tour or route, in addition to a free introduction of each tour.
The Paseo application was created to facilitate the experience of getting to know a destination through audio-guided tours with its mobile app. Users can walk at their own pace while discovering the history of a place at the time they want, without having to follow crowds, and with content prepared by local guides.
Paseo has a tour search engine that allows the user to choose the audio tour that best suits their needs and interests, where the tour circuit is explained through a free introduction, a map explaining the circuit to walk, as well as relevant information about the tour and the local guide who has created the experience.
One of the co-founders of Paseo, Ignacio Tejerina, assures that “Paseo was created to cover an existing need in the market that has not yet been explored. Knowing a destination when you want, without crowds, and at an affordable price. A study by the portal Getyourguide.com shows that 39% of tourists do not purchase guided tours on their trips due to a lack of autonomy; 36% do not do so because they have to follow large groups and wait in line; and 26% do not take guided tours because they consider the price is not economical”.
Paseo and its new approach to guided tour advertising
Paseo aims to transform the way people explore the world. Its app solution invites more tourists and travelers to take guided tours whenever they are on a trip, or to get to know their own city.
Through their app, which functions as a marketplace, travelers purchase audio tours that have been previously created by tour guides for sale on the app. The tours range in price from €2.99 to €5.99 per tour, and the content creators receive a commission from each sale. Through the audio guides, tour guides guarantee an extra passive income for their business, without having to give up traditional physical guided tours.
Another of the main pillars of Paseo’s monetization is advertising. Although this avenue is not planned to launch until Q2 of 2024, their vision is to equip content creators and advertisers with the tools to integrate advertising into guided tours.
“Until now, many guided tours and freetours based part of their commission on bringing tourists to recommended establishments to generate extra revenue. Thanks to our app, we want to bring transparency and allow guides to integrate branded content in their audio guides, or to sponsor their stories in Paseo through a brand, all without losing the essence of the stories that we do a guided tour for.” In the words of Santiago Becerra, Co-Founder of Paseo.
