Honor reveals the results of its Christmas survey on Europeans’ appreciation of unsung heroes.
HONOR, the global technology brand, today revealed the results of a Christmas survey that highlights the great appreciation that Europeans have for unsung heroes, especially during this time. According to research among 8,500 European respondents, almost half believe that people who selflessly serve others should receive more recognition during the festive season at Christmas.
Great appreciation for unsung heroes
This year, HONOR has chosen to pay tribute to unsung heroes during the Christmas period and aims to highlight the need for different communities to give unsung heroes the recognition they deserve. These heroes are basically people who work hard during the festive period so that the rest of us can have the best Christmas possible. Surely you know more than one: think of your hospitality friend who works on Christmas Eve serving others; in your surgeon friend who stays on call during Christmas; in your taxi driver uncle who takes everyone on New Year’s Eve… they are undoubtedly the unsung heroes of Christmas.
Qualities that define anonymous heroes
At the European level, respondents affirm that for them an anonymous hero is people who believe in them (35%), know how to encourage others (33%) and are simply themselves when they act (26%). These people are known for their bravery (25%) and for having the best intentions at heart (23%). For their part, Spanish respondents have pointed out other qualities such as daily effort (41%), honesty (37%) and kindness in people (35%).
Recognition and inspiration at Christmas
The research has revealed that 34% of participants are more likely to feel inspired by anonymous heroes during these important holidays and, for this reason, Spaniards take advantage of the occasion to give them recognition by recognizing their work (27%), either in person (26%) on social networks (20%), or by giving them special gifts (18%).
Gratitude to loved ones and impact on the community
When it comes to identifying these heroes, a significant 59% of European respondents have acknowledged having an unsung hero in their circle of loved ones, with mothers (41%) and fathers (30%) topping the list. In the case of Spain, couples (23%) and friends (18%) also stand out. However, despite the positive influence that these exert on people to improve their impact in the community, 16% of Spanish participants consider it somewhat difficult to recognize the inspiring role they have in their lives, although Christmas becomes the perfect time for it.
HONOR’s commitment to recognition
In response to these results, HONOR is launching initiatives to improve recognition of unsung heroes. «The Christmas season intensifies the great work of anonymous heroes. It is a time when their efforts reach us more than ever. Our survey confirms that in reality, although sometimes we don’t stop to think about it, there are anonymous heroes everywhere and it is our job to pay tribute to them,” says Ramiro Larragán, Marketing Director of HONOR Spain and Portugal.
